Apparatus started in March 2002 following the directors' nine years experience as heads of marketing and design at Selfridges.

Heading off for new pastures, they were looking for new challenges with like-minded people. They decided to live and work by the following principles:

Never to do a job they don't believe in and to do every job with as much enthusiasm as if it is their first, and as much attention to detail as if it is their last.

'We have surrounded ourselves with people who understand and like where we're coming from. We keep ourselves lean and keen, after all, an agency is only as big as its ideas.'

They design logos, corporate identities, brochures, leaflets, websites, videos, direct mail, wayfinding and signage, point of sale material, and visual merchandising. They back it up with strategic marketing, brand building, creative thinking and copywriting all the things you'd expect from a creative agency that features Marks & Spencer, Selfridges, New Look, John Lewis, and Lakeland Limited on the client list.
