Libby  Phillips
Project Management

Libby enrolled on the Project Management course at CETAD while at the InfoLab21 Graduate Academy as the course was part of her job experience and training.

Libby says “The course was more interesting than I expected. As a computer programmer I’ve always stayed away from business and management subjects. But it is more relevant to my work than I expected and has given me a better understanding”

“It was great to have the opportunity to do a variety of activities with different people. The diverse range of the people on the course provided some interesting points of view for the discussions, tasks and mini-projects”.

Libby was working full time so juggling work and study was challenging but she says “The support from the tutors was excellent and everyone was very helpful”.

Libby quickly found that the she was able to implement her new found skills saying,  “I was able to put some of the project management skills I was learning into action in order to manage my time and work load much more efficiently.”

Libby feels that she has developed adding “I now understand the diagrams produced by my managers and can to talk to them in a language they understand in order to agree details and schedules.”

During the course Libby completed her internship at the IGA and has taken up a new role at Lancaster University Information Systems Services. She says “In my new job I will be working in teams on larger projects so the course will be extremely useful. Personally the course has improved my confidence when talking to managers”.

And when asked if she’d recommend studying with CETAD Libby gives a resounding “Definitely!”.
