Experts Urge 'Join ICT Clusters'

ICT businesses are being urged to join their local ICT Cluster group to help boost the regional economy. Mike Wilson of Business Link Northwest stated, "Given the current economic climate, it's critical that businesses capitalise on every opportunity to help them thrive. Networking groups provide a forum to discuss issues, solutions and opportunities with local like-minded companies."

ICT JobShop

The ICT Job Shop has progressed well since the launch in October 2008 and now holds details of over 120 students and graduates who are looking for part-time and full-time work. In addition, 25 local companies have registered and the Knowledge Business Centre team are working hard to promote the resource to more companies. We hope that in the near future we will see many opportunities created for the benefit of both students and companies in the North West.

£9.2m India-Uk Research into Next Generation Networks

Lancaster University is a partner in a new UK-India research programme which will boost the digital revolution. Professor David Hutchison, Dr. Andreas Mauthe and Dr. Dimitrios Pezaros of InfoLab21 are part of a team of UK and Indian scientists and engineers undertaking a £9.2m research project to develop Next Generation Networks which are vital to pushing forward the digital economy.

New Funding for Space Research

The Department of Communication Systems' Space Plasma Environment and Radio Science Group has recently received over £900k of new funding in three grants awarded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council to support research at Lancaster University over a three year period.

100% of Computing Research at InfoLab21 is of 'International Quality'

100% of research within the Computing Department at InfoLab21 was considered to be of international quality in the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

Escendency Move Onwards And Upwards

Former InfoLab21 resident company Escendency have now grown up and flown the nest to start the New Year in their new offices in Lancaster city centre.
