Sh:ort is a studio specialising in high end digital artwork and graphics production for all types of industries. They provide visualisation services for all types of disciplines including Architectural Visualisation and Computer Games & Entrainment.
Nappycakeshop.co.uk is a family company based in Lancaster but trading all over the UK and overseas. They supply baby gifts, in particular 'nappy cakes' - an idea which originated in the USA but is becoming popular in the UK.
Another graduate has successfully completed an internship at the InfoLab21 Graduate Academy. Michael Maud started at the IGA in March 2006 and has helped many regional businesses with free development of their ICT systems. This month he began his new role as aweb officer at Bradford University.
Entrepreneurs with ideas at all stages of development are invited to participate in this high profile national competition by submitting a one-page outline of a business idea by 14 September 2007.
Regional SMEs in the creative industry are being offered free support through the Grow Creative project at Lancaster University. The ten workshops will take place in venues across Blackpool, Lancaster and Preston beginning on 25 September.
All the Women graduating from the Computing Department at InfoLab21 this year succeeded with First Class honours degrees. Of 36 students only three were women but all three, Emily Griffiths, Sara Bury and Rachel Burrows were among the 10 students who acheived a first.
InfoLab21 Director David Hutchison was quoted by New Scientist on 30 August in an article about peer-to-peer file sharing technology and the possibilities of Bandwidth becoming a global currency.

Design, Test and Manufacturing Technologies for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems. A European network of Excellence sponsored event at Lancaster University.
ICT Focus at InfoLab21, offers a range of advanced technical training courses in applications development and in systems and network administration. Programmes delivered range from Microsoft and Cisco certified courses, through to vocationally-oriented Lancaster University accredited courses or bespoke courses for industry.
The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development are currently recruiting for a number of their programmes for businesses growth. The programmes cover issues including human resource performance, marketing, leadership and problem solving.
The Northwest could soon be hosting an anual global technology conference beginning next year to mark the 60th anniversary of the first computer. It is aimed at a wide range of industry sectors across the North West, the UK and the rest of the world and will be first conference of it's kind in the UK.
