Two Computing graduate entrepreneurs are to roll their technology business out across the UK after being inspired by Create, Lancaster University's business creation centre.
Lancaster is set to receive around £5m to fund a new Digital Economy Innovation Centre to educate a new generation of PhD students. The funding will enable around 50 PhD students over 5 years to become the innovators of the future - trained to work at the cutting edge of the Digital Economy. Kevin Thistlethwaite from Mott MacDonald , one of the companies in line to work with Lancaster's new Centre , said: "This is excellent news for Lancaster University and true recognition of their contribution to the development of design and computer science in the UK."
Lancaster University is helping to provide internet connectivity for a town near Chernobyl in a UK Government funded £750,000 project to help regenerate the area which was devastated by the accident in April 1986. Professor Garik Markarian of the Department of Communication Systems at InfoLab21 helped to design the wireless broadband system.
ICT Focus still have some places available on this course starting in January 2009. This University-accredited certificate introduces key elements of systems and network administration, providing students with essential skills and knowledge for running an efficient and effective IT infrastructure.
InfoLab21 joined in with the first Global Business Incubation Day on 8th December by improving and expanding the section of our website on "Locating in InfoLab21" featuring information on being a resident company in InfoLab21's world class business incubation centre.
