Our next Technology Matters event will provide attendees with a chance to hear presentations from all the parties involved in the KTP process. You'll also be able to speak to the two KTP advisors working in our region and hear from two regional SMEs who have carried out recent and successful KTPs (In Touch & Rinicom). In addition to this you'll also have the oportunity to meet and speak to both of the new Heads of Department (Computing and Communication Systems) at InfoLab21 and gain their views and thoughts on the Knowledge Transfer Programme.
An interview with InfoLab21's Steve Riches, Director of the Knowlege Business Centre (KBC) was featured in the Autumn issue of "Bottom Line," Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors Moore and Smalley's business magazine. The interview focussed on the role of the KBC transferring information between academia and industry.
Resident KBC company NuBlue have won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the Interactive Media Awards 2008 for their Web Hosting. The IMA awards are an International Competition aimed at rewarding the very best in the Web Industry, open "to anyone involved in designing, developing, managing, supporting and promoting websites".

Digital Live Art is the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Live Art and Computing. re)Actor3 seeks to bring together practitioners and academics from the varying worlds of Live Art, Computing and HCI for a lively debate and after-party event which will explore this emerging field.
InfoLab21 Resident Company BigDog Interactive Ltd, experts in digital interactive installations, have jointly organised the event with HCI 2008. The day will consist of keynote presentations, formal papers, interactive installations and demonstrations. An Evening After party will follow.

InfoLab21's Dr. Reuben Edwards, one of the UK's leading experts in mobile technologies, will present on latest Bluetooth developments, social tags, geo tags and location blogging.

Lancaster University has moved up the rankings to be placed in the top tier of colleges and universities in the UK which generate wealth through working with business. The University was further ranked third in the country for the number and value of its contracts with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2006/07.
The help offered by the University to SMEs includes business consultancy to solve problems, professional training to improve skills and help to develop new products and services.
ICT Focus are now enrolling for their Certificates and Foundation Degree Programmes in Network & Systems Engineering, starting in September.
Technology and Innovation is one of the four categories in the O2 X Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Whether it’s a product or a service the Technology & Innovation X Award will go to the company that demonstrates how it has introduced technological innovation to change the way we live our lives today.
As well as the prize of £10,000 for the overall winner, each category winner will receive business mentoring from an industry figure from their category and a profile within a national publication.
The contest is open to privately owned businesses that employ fewer than 75 staff. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate how their business is harnessing the power of technology to make a key difference to their company.
A panel of judges, headed up by successful business tycoon Peter Jones, will select the UK’s 20 most impressive entrepreneurs. From the 20 winners, the judges will also be looking for the best female entrepreneur, best male entrepreneur, the young entrepreneur of the year and the most original business concept.
