Funding NEMO
Gerd Kortuem is the major driver behind NEMO - a £1million four year project. Hans Gellerson, Nigel Davies and David Hutchison are the Computing heavyweights supporting him along with the Management School and Psychology. Industry is represented too with BP, Carillion, Agilent Labs and local SME In Touch Ltd all very keen to be involved.
The project will be investigating how ubiquitous computing can improve the physical work process in industrial environments. BP, for example, are interested in developing "smart" chemical drums which know how they are stored and can evaluate whether they contravene strict health and safety rules.
