E-campus

By now most of you will have seen the large plasma screens and other displays such as projectors that have been set up in key public spaces around the University along with interaction devices and sensors. These are part of a £500k SRIF II project called e-Campus which aims to test and research ubiquitous computing technology and explore some of its uses. These prototypes are being used to display content ranging from art and entertainment to breaking news and other information. The more they are used, the more the researchers can gain from the projects, so please take the time to have a look.

The project has also aroused interests from the BBC's research and development team, who visited the University to find out more about it and met with those involved. Lancaster is the first University use the technology in this way and on such a large scale.
