Keeping it Simple
The European Union funded Simplicity project (brings together eleven partners from major European industrial organizations, network operators, SMEs, research labs and universities to investigate novel approaches to simplifying the process of configuring and customizing ICT devices and networked services.
Simplicity partners have designed and developed an architectural framework that provides automatic customization of user access to services and the network, automatically adapts services to terminal characteristics and user preferences, and orchestrates network capabilities.
During the project's evaluation stage a user study was conducted in the department to gain some insight into end users' initial reactions to the different personalization techniques implemented in the Simplicity framework.
More than a dozen users were selected to try the Simplicity-enabled tour guide application. Their feedback was video recorded, analyzed and then reported as part of one of the Simplicity deliverables.
