InfoLab21 Goes UPBEAT
Lancaster University has joined the University of Salford, Leeds Metropolitan University, the University of Teeside and the University of Westminster in the University Partnership to Benchmark Enterprise Activities and Technologies, better known as the UPBEAT project.
The aim of the project is to enable universities to be able to benchmark themselves against each other with respect to "outreach," a term used to describe the way universities transfer knowledge and skills to support social, economic and cultural organisations and stakeholders.
Dr. Sarah Robinson joined the KBC in June 2006 as the Lancaster University UPBEAT Research Officer as part of the project. Her role is to research knowledge transfer to SMEs involved in InfoLab21 activities, compile 5 case studies from across the University, including InfoLab21, using the UPBEAT benchmarking tool to evaluate and develop outreach activities.
UPBEAT is a Pan-European project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE), and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
