One Planet Festival Logo Competition

InfoLab21 resident company Escendency, one of the Partner Organisations of the 2008 One Planet Festival are holding a competition to design a logo for the event.

The One Planet Festival will be held in Lancaster on Thursday 9th - Sunday 12th October 2008 and will highlight the issues surrounding climate change and sustainable living and offer advice about practical action that people and communities can take.

The logo would need to encapsulate the idea of sustainability and also be generic in the sense that it will be used for Lancaster this year but could be Morecambe next year and ultimately any town.

Entries must be emailed to ben.ruth@escendency.com by 15 March 2008, and any questions about the design should be emailed to the same address.

There will be a £200 prize for the winner and the company or the individual will be represented on the literature for the festival.

The One Planet Festival - Get Involved

This non-profit festival will be an opportunity to celebrate and champion the diverse culture, produce and innovations in the area.

Escendency, specialists in Performance Management software, will be providing their system to monitor the entire event. "The Escendency tool will be ideal for the event's action-planning - who's going to do what and when, and what those tasks are. We can also use it as an auditing tool, and as an accounting tool."

Escendency is already working in the field of sustainability and climate change and are currently rolling out the NWDA's climate change action plan. Some of the lead organisations involved with the NWDA are also being invited to the One Planet exposition.

Escendency's Ben Ruth is keen to hear from any interested stakeholders, potential sponsors or companies who would like to be involved with the festival or feature in the one day Sustainability Exposition which is being held at the town hall on Saturday the 11th October.

"We are also interested in involving University research projects or start-up companies working in the field of sustainability . Crowberry Consulting is a company based at Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) and they are providing a Carbon Footprint monitoring tool which, if successfully followed, will allow the event to gain an "eco-friendly event" certificate. Beecycle, a waste food recycling operation based at LEC, is also involved."
