Experts Urge 'Join ICT Clusters'
Business Link Northwest is urging ICT businesses to make a New Year's resolution that's simple, free and will benefit their business - to join their local ICT Cluster group.
Mike Wilson, Digital and Creative Sector team leader at Business Link Northwest stated:
"Given the current economic climate, it's critical that businesses capitalise on every opportunity to help them thrive. The digital and creative sector faces some unique challenges, and the networking groups provide a forum to discuss issues, solutions and opportunities with local like-minded companies.
"I'd urge everyone operating in the digital and creative sector in the Northwest to visit the new ICT Cluster Groups site at www.lcictcluster.org and find out more about how they can benefit from joining up."
Inmpact On The Regional Economy
As ICT supports almost all sectors of the economy, the creation of successful cluster groups, provided with a skilled workforce and a unique and supportive collaborative environment has a great impact on the regional economy as a whole.
Individual companies contribute to the clustering effect by their relationship with suppliers and customers and by using their skills in networking and building alliances with other companies.
The Clusters also provide benefits for local businesses and helps to promote Lancashire & Cumbria as a centre of excellence for ICT.
Regional Resources
The new website was created by InfoLab21 and Business Link Northwest to provide a unique central resource for the region's technology led businesses. Lancashire & Cumbria ICT Clusters are supported by Business Link North West, local Councils and the Lancashire Economic Partnership.
Lancashire Economic Partnership's Director of Strategy & Business Development, Nick Briggs, who chairs the ICT Clusters Steering Group said,
"The Partnership is delighted to have been involved with the creation of the new clusters website and fully supports its aims. Research carried out in the North West indicates that maximising the implementation of ICT can make a significant contribution to increasing GVA in all economic sectors thus we need to encourage more companies to take up and exploit the available ICT. The work of the Lancashire and Cumbria ICT Clusters is invaluable in meeting this objective."
