City Women Get Down To Business

Businesswomen in the Lancaster district now have their own forum for business and personal development, with the launch of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business Network.

More than 60 of Lancaster's leading business women gathered at Lancaster House Hotel last month for a lunchtime presentation by personal development trainer, Sarah Thurstan of Performance Link

As well as running her own highly successful training organisation, Sarah is also an experienced actor with theatre, TV and film roles under her belt. Guests were entertained with a motivating talk, which involved posture and breathing techniques and confidence-building tips using Sarah's well-honed skills as an actor.

"Very inspiring, entertaining and interesting," said Vivien Hacker of Eureko Associates.

"We have been overwhelmed at the enormous response we had to setting up a separate networking forum for our women members," said Ann Morris, chamber manager.

"We recognised that the majority of women network in a different way to our male counterparts and are genuinely interested in what other people do.

"They are inclined to be more open in sharing information, promoting each other as well as learning from one another.

"It's not just about getting a sale, but about building relationships for the future."
