Technology Matters Presentations Online

Presentations from CEEC and Merit Presentations from CEEC and Merit

There was another good turn out this week for the latest Technology Matters Event.

Feedback from the event has been excellent and comments have included:

"Intersting and enabling"; "A useful way of expanding a small business' environment"; "Good quality technical content in a pleasant location"; and "You get exactly the right people to come and talk".

Copies of the presentation slides and further information can be viewed from the links below.

The event combined InfoLab21's quarterly Technology Matters event with the April Lancaster ICT Cluster meeting.

The first half of the event was a showcase for the Business Support services available through CEEC, the Centre for Employability, Enterprise and Careers at Lancaster University.

CEEC Director Paul Blackmore provided an overview of CEEC's business support services, and brought with him a business owner and a student to give their perspectives on the student placement programme.

Business owner Stephen Magraw gave a glowing report on how student placements through CEEC have helped his company, Stanian IT Management Consultants Limited, employ the right talent at minimal cost to the company.

Student Gopal Kapoor then talked on his successful experience working through CEEC with cosmetics company Purely Mineral. While working for them he was also able to use his talents to secure them a £20,000 prize and a package of support from BT.

After the mid-session networking buffet, one of the world's top professional full time podcasters, Don McAllister from MERIT demonstrated the technology behind podcasting and explained just how easy and inexpensive it is for individuals or organisations of any size to take advantage of this revolution in digital publishing and new media.

The event was kindly sponsored by Business Link North West who work closely with InfoLab21 to support the Lancaster ICT Cluster group and provide a full brokerage service for companies throughout the North West.

Thanks also go to Business Link North West for their introduction to Don at MERIT.

You can also see presentations from past events and ICT cluster meetings, plus details of forthcoming networking events, in the ICT Cluster section of the InfoLab21 website.
