ICT Focus Celebrates New Foundation Degree Graduates
Keith Bolton, Peter Grimshaw, Stephen Lowis, Kath Bell (Garry Haining did not attend)
ICT Focus celebrated as another five of their Foundation Degree students graduated on Wednesday 16th July.
The five students, who successfully completed four Lancaster University accredited certificates (jointly run by the Department of Continuing Education and ICT Focus) were awarded their Foundation Degrees in Science in Systems & Network Engineering/Systems Engineering by Lancaster University Chancellor Sir Chris Bonnington.
Kath Bell, Garry Haining, Stephen Lowis, Keith Bolton and Peter Grimshaw all work full time and achieved their degrees despite hectic work and family commitments.
Their hard work consisted of both practical and theory-based assignments, Lancaster based study sessions and online learning. Their course culminated in a project demonstration of a public display system called iScreens, aimed at presenting department-specific and institution-wide information such as videos, web pages, and presentations.
Graduate Kath Bell, Network Manager at Saint Aidan's Church of England Technology College said;
"The ICT field is constantly changing, so people employed in it must keep their professional skills up to date. The foundation degree path has enabled me to pursue an academic qualification whilst working and studying.
"The modular format has ensured I've been able to choose subjects closely aligned with my work and I have benefited from a broader outlook on several subjects.
"Tutors have been very supportive and I have gained confidence as well as a valuable qualification."
Rachel Fligelstone, Head of ICT Focus, said;
"This has been a wonderful day - a real reflection of the hard work and dedication of these students. This is the second group to graduate with the Foundation Degree and we look forward to welcoming many more."
ICT Focus are enrolling for certificates starting in October. If you're interested in these or the Foundation Degree, please go to the link below.
